Life Policies, Early Termination & Re-activation

To terminate a policy, along with all of its increments and variations, and to automatically issue all required commission clawback, you should do the following, starting from Durell’s Main Menu…

  • Click the “Policies” button
  • Click the “Signpost” button
  • Click “Life”
  • Click “Early termination…”
  • This will take you to a dialogue box, as shown below, that will explain what the system is about to do. Click the “OK” button after you’ve read it.

On the following “Terminate Policy” dialogue, as shown below, enter the date of the policy’s termination and the stage to which the base policy and all of its variations should be set to, then click “OK”.

On the following terminating variation screen, shown below, you’ll notice that the stage is set as “* Clawback *” and the “Awaiting” field is set as “Nothing”. Add any notes you may require, then click the black “Curve-right Arrow” button to move onto the next screen.

If any clawback is due then the total amount outstanding for the base policy and all of its variations will appear as a single NEGATIVE sum, as shown below, which you may edit as required. If there is no clawback due you should simply exit and save at this point.

If clawback is due then, having confirmed the amount, you should click the black “Curve-right Arrow” key to move onto the sales peoples’ commission screens, where you’ll find that the system has apportioned clawback to them. Again you may edit these figures before finally posting to the accounts (see “Policies, Commission Pay-aways”).

After you’ve saved and exited from the “Early Termination” procedure you’ll find that every time you return to the terminated policy, or any of its variations, you’ll be presented with a warning dialogue, as shown below, and find that further editing is prevented.
